Look out for each other
ROAD SAFETY.
VanTribes connects you with real strangers in real places. That's the whole point — and it's worth a few minutes of care. This page is common sense, not a legal shield: use your judgment, always.
Before you go
- •Check who else is going on the event page — small tribes and visible attendee lists exist so you're never rolling in blind.
- •Say hi in the tribe chat before the meetpoint. A host or member who's slow to respond or evasive about basics is worth a second thought.
- •Share your plans with someone outside the trip: which event, where, roughly when you'll check in again.
- •Keep first-meetup payments modest and in person — never wire money ahead of time, and never to someone who pressures you to.
At the meetpoint
- •Trust your gut. If a place or person feels off on arrival, it's fine to hang back, and it's fine to leave.
- •Keep your van accessible and don't park in a way that boxes you in.
- •Alcohol and altered judgment are a bad mix with strangers and unfamiliar roads — pace yourself, especially the first time you meet someone.
- •Respect applies both ways: kindness, consent, and no pressure — that's the whole tribe spirit pledge every member agrees to on joining.
If something goes wrong
- •Block anyone who makes you uncomfortable — from their profile, it's instant and mutual (you disappear from each other's map and messages too).
- •Report a person, event, or message from the same profile menu — our team reviews every report.
- •For anything urgent or unsafe, contact local emergency services first, then let us know so we can act on our end.
- •Use the VanTribes contact page after contacting local emergency services when appropriate.
